Here are a few golden oldies… What’s your excuse?
There’s just not enough time to work out…
Really? Are you kidding me? We all have the same 24 hours per day; its how we choose to prioritize the things we want and need to do that makes the difference. If something is important enough to you, you will find the time. And what could be more important than your wellbeing? When you look after you, you have more energy and desire to look after those in your life.

If I lift weights I’ll end up looking like a man (that’s fine if you are a man of course!)
Yes, I still hear this from women I speak to about their wellbeing. If only it was that easy to build muscle! As a woman who often defined herself as a ‘gym rat’ I can honestly say that regardless of the amount of working out I did the muscle development was slow but it also looked good; not manly. It would have taken crazy amounts of heavy weight training to produce the kind of muscle mass women fear. So drop this lame excuse and give it a go! You might even enjoy it…

I’m too old to start exercising
Says who? Since when has age dictated that you are better off sitting back and allowing your body to deteriorate? You can start a fitness regime at any time, even if you have never done anything before. There are dedicated marathon runners in their 80s+ and you don’t have to set your sights on achieving anything like that. But how lovely would it be to ‘mature’ and be in the best shape of your life? Possible? Oh YES!

So when you say ‘I want to get fit’, drop the ‘but’ and replace it with the activity you are going to do instead. Get fit, have fun!
